Who is Brian Jacobson?

And what is with the tag line "Life in the Tubes"?

I can answer both at the same time.  I am a 28 year old IT Director for a start up data center.  I grew up as the personal computing world developed and through my teen years watched the Internet grow.  I consider myself a member of the first "Internet Generation".  At the data center I deal with disaster recovery, business continuation, web hosting and email.  I carry a Palm Pre with an unlimited data plan and when I get home my computer is my first source of news and entertainment so my life pretty much revolves around Internet connectivity.  The tag line is taken from the now famous Ted Stevens tube comparison when attempting to engage in the net neutrality debate.  My life is very much in the Internet.  As I grow older I realize how profoundly it has affected my world view compared to previous generations.

I also dabble in web design.  A few of my designs are up on the Internet.  Most are just done for friends or hobbies.  I am by no means a professional in the web design category but I know enough to be dangerous or so says Full Sail where I have an Associates Degree in Digital Media.

Lastly I am a political junkie.  I grew up in and around Orlando, Florida mostly living in Kissimmee and St. Cloud until I graduated high school.  I currently reside in Coconut Creek, Florida.  I am a born again Christian and a committed conservative.  When I am not dealing with issues at work thoughts of politics and culture dominate my thinking.  Like any self absorbed member of the "Internet Generation" I feel the need to share my thoughts with the world in a very self important manner.

On a personal level I have a huge variety of interests.  Still very much a kid at heart I continue to watch cartoons.  Mostly now I watch anime.  The usual suspects of Naruto, Bleach, and Cowboy Bebop top my favorites.  Video games are also a big part of my life.  Being the Internet junkie that I am MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) top that list.  My current addiction in that department is World of Warcraft.  Also if it burns gasoline I am a fan.  My perennial project on hold is my 1987 Turbo Regal.  Some day I will get the time and resources to fix it up but as of right now keeping it street worthy is all I can manage.  It is my first car and I am very sentimental about it so parting with it is not an option.
